Ferries
The 12-strong Star Ferry fleet crosses the harbour between Central and Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon side from 6:30am-11:30pm every day. As fares for the upper deck are only HK$2.20 (lower HK$1.70) this ranks as one of the world's greatest sightseeing bargains.
Both fast and ordinary ferries to the outlying islands – Lamma, Lantau, Cheung Chau and Peng Chau – leave from the piers to the north of the Airport Express station on Hong Kong island. Ferries for Discovery Bay (HK$27 one-way) on Lantau, and a hoverferry for Tsim Sha Tsui East, leave from piers to the east of the Star Ferry in Central. For information, tel: 2987 7351.
