Hong Kong Karaoke
Many bars and even restaurants have private rooms where groups get together to sing Chinese songs. There are TV screens showing music videos and the words to the song in Chinese. Words are highlighted when you are supposed to sing them.
Some karaoke bars also employ “hostesses” to sing together with the customers, who are usually rowdy groups of Asian businessmen. A night out in one of these establishments will prove extremely expensive. Westerners unaccompanied by local Chinese will probably not be made very welcome.
