Although the dense high-rise jungles of Hong Kong and the bright neon signs exploding in electrificed Chinese may at first all look daunting to the visitor, Hong Kong is actually quite an easy city to get around. The highly efficient public transport system certainly helps matters.
Be aware, however, that since Hong Kong is an extremely crowded city, trying to navigate your way around in the rush hour may prove very unpleasant – even impossible at times – for the uninitiated. Traveling at this time of day may also make you feel less than charitable towards the local population – necessity has dictated that people push in to get into buses, trains and trams.
If you are waiting for a taxi, don't be surprised if a nimble local resident jumps in ahead of you when one appears, even if you have been waiting on the street corner for 10 minutes. If possible, avoid taking taxis at rush hours.
