Museum of the Western Han (Nanyue Wangmu)


Western Han

The emperor Wen Di, who ruled southern China from 137 to 122 BC, was buried here. Today a museum houses the skeletons of the emperor and fifteen courtiers who were buried alive with him. Funerary objects from jade armour to bronze chimes are displayed.
